Casa del Sol Innkeeper Elizabeth Shepard has become a fan of a local flamenco company, and they will give a performance at her venue Saturday, October 8, 6:30 p.m.
Colectivo Aire Flamenco has five stars: musical director and guitarist Fernando Martinez Macias, dancers Mario Ruiz Hernandez and Sofia Arce, musician and singer (cantaor) Santiago Maesterra Bru and organizer, cajonist and dancer Emilia Galvez.
The group’s tabla encompasses flamenco traditions from all over Spain.
Martinez is a composer and authored much of the music you’ll hear at this performance. He began his guitar lessons as a small child under the tutelage of his father, flamenco artist Fernando Martinez Peralta. After attending the University of Guadalajara, he studied flamenco guitar under Spanish masters Manolo Sanlucar, Oscar Herrero, Gerardo Nuñez, Manolo Franco and Jose Antonio Rodriquez. He has accompanied some of flamenco’s great artists in Mexico and abroad.
