Activities at the newly inaugurated Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR), formerly known as the Auditorio de la Ribera, will start Thursday, January 12, 7 p.m., with the screening of “Asfixia,” an award-winning feature length movie by Tapatio film-maker Kenya Márquez.
Also on the bill for January’s Thursday night film series is “El Viaje de Paty,” a Santiago Pedroche documentary about women of the indigenous Wixárika tribe showing on January 19 with English subtitles; and selected independent film shorts on January 26, also at 7 p.m..

January 21, 7 p.m. - Rondalla Voces del Alama strings and voices in concert
January 22, 1 p.m. - “Domingo,” comedy/drama feature-length film
January 27, 7 p.m. - “Despues de las Ausencias,” stage drama on missing persons in Jalisco
January 28, 7 p.m. - Coro del Estado de Jalisco (Jalisco State Choir) singers in concert
January 29, 1 p.m. - “La Vendedora de Nubes” children’s theater production
Since the center’s box office is not yet in operation, free tickets for these events may be ordered through the website https://voyalteatro.com. Search listings under the heading Cartelera Presencial, click on the Detalles box, go to Compra tus boletos, enter number of tickets desired and click Siguiente to register with the full name appearing an official ID and the email address where you will receive confirmation and the QR code ticket.
At press time, it is unknown if walk-in admissions will be allowed for available seating on the actual performance dates.
The current CCAR gallery exhibit of Jorge Wilmot ceramics is reportedly open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
