State seeks input on Ribera Culture and Arts Center

Jalisco Secretary of Culture Lourdes Ariadna González Pérez made a special trip to Ajijic on Tuesday, May 2 to delve into proposals for increasing community involvement in the operation of the recently opened Ribera Cultural and Arts Center (CCAR) in la Floresta.

pg13aGonzález met with Lake Chapala Society (LCS) President Steve Balfour and Executive Director Luis Pacheco, and Chapala government representatives Jesús Escamilla and Aurora Michel. She was accompanied by CCAR manager Gabriela Escatel and her communications chief Alejandro Jáuregui.

The discussion focused principally on the formation of a local board of trustees to achieve the center’s financial self-sufficiency for maintaining the facilities and to support promotion of its activities. The concept is to establish a non-profit association that would involve the participation of Mexican and foreign citizens in fund-raising campaigns, in which all proceeds would de destined exclusively for the CCAR.
