Young photographers to show at Ajijic plaza

A spectacular exhibition showcasing the work of Ajijic’s youth will open at the Open Air Gallery (GALA), located in the garden area surrounding the town’s main plaza, on Saturday, March 1, 3 p.m.

The exhibition features ten talented members of the Lake Chapala Society Photo Club, all between the ages of 12 and 16. Inspired by their teacher Alicia Knox, they have created a series of six images that tell a personal story from their lives. These moving photographs will remain on display for several months.

At the inauguration, you’ll have the chance to meet the young photographers and their teachers, and enjoy light refreshments. The event will be accompanied by a performance from Mariachi Juvenil Axixic.

GALA founder and curator Xill Fessenden has worked closely with the adult leaders at LCS who guide these youth photographers. Her goal for this exhibition is to encourage the development of local youth talent in the photographic arts. The gallery aims to inspire pride in the identity, traditions and talents of the Ajijic community while also highlighting the ecology of Lake Chapala.
