Finding laughter & strength, even in the darkest of times

Bare Stage Theatre presents “A Ton of Bricks and Other Random Sh*t,” a compelling and humorous one-woman show by writer, photographer and storyteller Alexis Steinkamp.

pg20bThe play is an adventure of triumph, humor and resilience following a life-altering accident in Ajijic.

Show dates are Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, at 4 p.m. at Bare Stage Theatre (St. Andrew’s), San Lucas 19 in Riberas del Pilar.

This deeply personal performance recounts Steinkamp’s journey as a solo nomad traveling the world, encountering unexpected adventures and unforgettable people. However, the heart of the show focuses on a life-changing event that took place right here in Ajijic. On November 26, 2023, Steinkamp and fellow resident Polly Vale were standing outside the local Walmart when a dump truck lost control and overturned, burying them under a pile of rocks and debris.

Despite the severity of the accident, Steinkamp survived and turned this traumatic experience into a story of survival, healing and humor. In “A Ton of Bricks and Other Random Sh*t,” she shares how she found laughter and strength even in the darkest of times, drawing on her unique perspective as a writer and adventurer. The show also features random stories from her travels, with each performance offering a new set of tales chosen by the audience.

This special community event, held near the site of the accident, is a testament to Steinkamp’s resilience and the power of humor in the face of adversity.  Her powerful journey will leave you inspired and reminded of the strength we all carry within.
