Talented musicians from near and far will flock to Chapala in early June to participate in the XXIII edition of the Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Más, scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, at the Centro Cultural González Gallo (CCGG).
This annual, offbeat music festival features traditional Mexican and Latin American sounds performed on folk harps, psalteries, and various other string and acoustic instruments. Individual artists and groups will take the stage on the back steps of the former railway station, alternating nonstop from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The festival offers a unique opportunity that serves as both a sharing-and-learning experience for the musicians and a full day of lively entertainment for music lovers. Participants, many of whom have strong artistic backgrounds, come together to strengthen bonds of friendship, hone their performance skills, and share good times in a relaxed atmosphere.
Best of all, admission to the event is free to the public. Voluntary contributions, the purchase of souvenir t-shirts and pins, and bar sales help offset the festival’s expenses.
