BRAVO Theatre’s ‘Recipe’ serves up satire and revolution

Are they little old ladies in a baking club, or Marxist revolutionaries? Or both?

That is the central question in the radically funny play “Recipe,” opening October 31 at The BRAVO! Theatre.

pg21The women of the Morning Glory Baking Circle for Revolutionary Self-defense, trying to do their part to stop fascism while staying under the government’s radar is the basis for this comedy from Michael Gene Sullivan, the resident playwright of the Tony Award-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe.

This remarkable production is directed by Suki O’Brien and Randy Warren. The talented cast features Marsha Heaton, Sharon Jarvis, Louise Reid Ritchie, Roberta Rubin and Marcy Weiland.

Show dates are October 31 to November 2 and November 7-9. The Friday, October 31 performance begins at 7:30 p.m.  and all other performances begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are 350 pesos. Doors open one hour before show time, so come early to enjoy a cocktail in The BRAVO’s lounge.

Some women swear allegiance. Some women just swear. So, The BRAVO gives a strong language warning to this funny play.
