The BRAVO! Theatre’s stand-up comedy series returns with comedy legend Carol Leifer for one weekend only: Friday, January 30, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, January 31, at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Carol is an Emmy, Golden Globe, Writers Guild Award and Producers Guild Award winner for her work on Hacks. She has also written for such legendary shows as Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, SNL, Modern Family and The Larry Sanders Show, as well as 12 Academy Awards shows — the most of any female writer.
Carol’s stand-up career began in the 1970s, when she was still in college. She came up in the comedy club scene along with Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, with whom she is still friends. As a stand-up, Carol has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” HBO, Showtime, “Comedy Central,” and made 25 appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman.”
Her new book, “How to Write a Funny Speech for a Wedding, Bar Mitzvah, Graduation & Every Other Event You Didn’t Want to Go to in the First Place,” is a bestseller. Carol has written two previous books: “When You Lie About Your Age, the Terrorists Win” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Crying.” She is a popular speaker on the corporate and nonprofit circuit, having delivered speeches for more than 100 organizations.
Known for her clean, witty humor and infectious laugh, Carol brings her unique brand of observational and autobiographical comedy to The BRAVO! Her material often draws from her own life experiences, including her Jewish upbringing on Long Island, relationships, coming out, parenting, and being an older performer in the stand-up comedy world.
The Saturday 4 p.m. show has already sold out, so be sure to make your reservations now for one of the evening performances so you don’t miss this chance to laugh along with a comedy legend—without leaving Lakeside.
