Dawn Carver returns to Casa del Sol Inn on Friday, July 3, with a new exhibition of black-and-white ceramic vases.
The artist, whose parents were both designers, says creativity was woven into her upbringing. “Design was always part of daily conversation growing up,” Carver recalls.
In 2011, she moved to Ajijic from San Francisco to care for her mother. Having just retired from set design and construction for retail advertising photography, she needed a new creative outlet. “Shortly thereafter, I signed up for pottery classes from the late great Frank Howell. It is an obsession now, and I have been working out of my own studio for the past 15 years. All my work is hand-built, one-of-a-kind pieces.”
