Chapala pulls out the stops for beloved Virgin icon

Festivities surrounding the annual summer visit of the Virgen de Zapopan to Chapala were replete with all the usual religious fervor and pageantry, plus some novel twists for the several thousand pilgrims in attendance.

Virgin of Zapopan to wear new attire for annual trek to Chapala

As Mother Nature begins working her rainy season wonders, devout Roman Catholics are making ready to raise prayers to Mother Mary for divine intervention to protect and replenish Lake Chapala. In that vein, thousands of pilgrims will congregate Sunday, July 12 to manifest their devotion to La Virgen de Zapopan when the revered icon arrives for her traditional summer visit to Chapala.

Summer fun awaits budding artists

Lakeside children will have a unique opportunity to get a head start toward following this area’s ancient traditions of making art during the week-long Third Annual LCS Children’s Art Program Summer Art Camp later this month.

Circus artists to take stage at Chapala waterfront

Aerial dances, trapeze tricks, acrobatics, juggling and other fun stuff is on the bill for a free show by Artes Circenses Infinity slated for Sunday, June 28, 5 p.m., at the Foro al Aire Libre outdoor stage at the Chapala Malecon.
