Christmas bazaar

More than 30 artists, designers and chefs from Lakeside and Guadalajara will gather for a Christmas bazaar on Saturday and Sunday, December 22 and 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the La Huerta events center in west Ajijic. These artists will present their very best creations in jewelry, home décor, prepared foods, art, and all things holiday related.

Special showing

A special holiday reading of Noel Coward’s “Private Lives,” directed by Betty Lloyd Robinson, is set for December 28, 29 and 30, 4 p.m. at the Naked Stage, Rio Bravo 10 in west Ajijic.

The audience will be invited to dress up, mingle with the cast and enjoy a glass of champagne, elegant hors d’oeuvres and great music. The bar will open at 3 p.m. and the box office at 3:15 p.m.

With the opening of a new gallery in Ajijic, artist Carole D’Addio is bringing works by herself and her late husband, Peter D’Addio, back into the public eye.

The D’Addios were an important part of the Lakeside art scene for many years and owned and operated a gallery in Bucerias from 2003 to 2008.

Her new gallery, D’Addio and D’Addio Art Gallery (Juan Alvarez 4, Ajijic), will be open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is 766-0283.

Exposition

A collective exhibit featuring the work of talented artists from Guadalajara and Lakeside will open on Saturday, December 22, 5 p.m. at Centro de Ajijic y Cultura de Dionicio Morales (Constitucion 16, Ajijic).

Among the feted artists will be Roberto Pulido, Daniel Palma, Manuel Ramirez, Isidro Xilonxochitl, Enrique Oroz, Antonio Lopez Vega, Victor Hugo Perez, Monizette, Horacio Raigoza, Dionicio Morales, Balo Pulido and David Mendoza.

This looks set to be a spectacular exhibition. Stop by for a cocktail and a thrill for the senses.

Collective to open

Three artists will share the limelight when Centro Cultural de Ajijic opens a new show with a reception on Saturday, January 12, 4-8 p.m.

Sala I of the center hosts “Amor de Lejos,” a display of abstract acrylic paintings by Patrick Kemal. Up in Sala II will be “Relatos Oniricos,” magic realism oil paintings and acrylics by Jesus Lopez Vega, along with some of his etchings. Watercolors, acrylic paintings and etchings by Jesus Eduardo Lopez Garcia (Jesus Lopez Vega’s son) are also showcased in Sala II.

The event will also feature live music, cocktails and botanas.
