Bare Stage
Bare Stage Theatre performs a reading of “Art of Murder” by Joe Di Pietro, a comedy-mystery with a thin overlay of chat about the more ruthless aspects of the art industry, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 26-28, 4 p.m.
The story centers on artist Jack Brooks, who mistreats his wife, Annie, and everyone around him, using the fact that he is an amazing artist as an excuse to act out. His agent Vincent Cummings shows up and between the gunfire and drowning, things begin to go awry.
The show features Kathleen Morris, Jon de Young, Tina Leon and John Ward and is directed by Arleen Pace.

You can still catch a set by illusionists, The Crazy Bitches, Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27, 7 p.m. A Puerto Vallarta favorite for over a decade, this talented troupe brings your favorite stars from the stage and screen to life in a fast-paced, feel-good show that always leaves their audiences wanting more.
The Ol’ Country Boys are on the ticket Wednesday, October 31, 8 p.m., while Friday, November 2, Guadalajara-based band AyraTara returns with music perfect for the Day of the Dead.

Free orchestra concert
The Children’s Orchestra of the BOCA program, under the direction of Jose de Jesus Orozco Alejandre, performs at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo Saturday, October 27, 6 p.m. The concert is free.
LLT
Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) continues with “Proof” by David Auburn and directed by Randy Warren, through Sunday, October 28. “Proof” is a captivating and compassionate drama about scientists whose science matters less than their humanity; a mystery about an important mathematical proof, overlaid with the enigma of genius, and the toll it takes on friends, family and colleagues. The cast includes Devin Van Domelin, Tony Wilshere, Collette Clavadetscher and Wayne Waterman.

Sinatra/Elvis tribute
Frankie Dino and his Tribute Show Band will perform a dinner show at Roberto’s Restaurant, Saturday, October 27. Dinner is at 6 p.m.; the show begins at 7 p.m. and dancing goes from 9 p.m. until closing. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes (optional). Tickets, 350 pesos, available at Roberto’s. Film Aficionados
Lake Chapala Society members can take advantage of Film Aficionados screenings each Thursday, 2 p.m. November 1, “Le Brio” (2017, France) will be screened. After an incident in a classroom goes viral on the Internet, a brilliant professor is called to task and forced to mentor the student he wronged.
Ajijic collective show
Galeria de Arte Axixic opens it annual collective show with a cocktail reception Saturday, November 3, 3 to 7 p.m. Artists lined up to exhibit paintings, etchings, sculptures, photograph and other works are Pat Apt, Alejandro Camacho, DePaul Durham, Xill Fessenden, Jesús Eduardo López, Antonio López Vega, Jesús López Vega, Gabriel Mariscal, Betty Petersen, Salvador Rodríguez, Dan Williams and Isidro Xilonsochitl. The gallery is at Rio Zula 1 at the corner of Ocampo in West Ajijic.
Fall Viva bus trips
Viva la Musica sponsors trips to performances by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO), the Ballet de Jalisco and a live opera presentation.
November 4: Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 (JPO); November 27: Live opera, “Turandot” by Puccini, featuring Oksana Kramereva, Riccardo Massi and the Zapopan Municipal Choir and JPO; December 9: JPO puts on a Baroque Fest with music by Vivaldi, Geminiani, Gabrieli, Bach and Lully; December 13: Ballet de Jalisco performs the “Nutcracker.”

‘Young Marx’
Lakeside Little Theatre screens the National Theatre Live performance of “Young Marx” Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, 4 p.m. The play by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman stars Rory Kinnear and centers on 1850 Europe’s most feared terrorist hiding in Soho. Creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions and prospective seducers of his beautiful wife all circle like vultures. His writing blocked, his marriage dying, his friend Engels in despair at his wasted genius, his only hope is a job on the railway. But there’s still no one in the capital who can show you a better night on the piss than Karl Heinrich Marx.

Life & times of Edith Piaf
The life and times of Edith Piaf as told by her lifelong friend Simone Berteaut will be presented as a dinner show Thursday, November 8, and Friday, November 9, 6 p.m., at Hacienda Don Pedro. The show will feature many of Piaf’s most famous songs, including her signature song “La Vie en Rose.”
The dinner includes salad, chicken basque, apple pie and a glass of tequila with the meal. Don Pedro’s offers a 10-percent discount on all drinks.

Feria Maestros del Arte
Mariachi Nuevo Chapala will open the Feria Maestros del Arte with a performance Friday, November 9, 9:30 a.m., at the Chapala Yacht Club, Paseo Ramon Corona and the lake in Chapala.
This year’s fair, November 9-11, will host a variety of musical and dance performances throughout the event, which runs daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closing 4:30 p.m. on Sunday). Dozens of Mexico’s top folk art craftsmen will be displaying and selling their finished pieces. Many of the artisans also work on new pieces at the fair.
The Feria is still looking for hosts to accommodate the artist families who come long distances from Chiapas, Oaxaca, Michoacan and Guerrero. Bare Stage auditions

Ajijic through time
Centro Cultural Ajijic, in coordination with the Chapala municipal government, invites resident artists to submit paintings, drawings, photographs and work in other media for inclusion in the collective exhibit “Ajijic a Través del Tiempo,” to be displayed Saturday, November 24 through Thursday, December 6. Selected participants will be eligible to show one or two pieces reflecting themes of Ajijic, its people, customs, traditions or transformation through time.
