Theater at LLT

Lakeside Little Theatre’s Ajijic Readers Theatre (ART) presents “Light Sensitive,” written by Jim Geoghan and directed by Dave McIntosh, Friday to Sunday, July 16-18. All performances are at 4 p.m. on The Angel Terrace.

pg13Ken Yakiwchuk, Brian Fuqua and Liz O’Neill are the cast of this funny, honest, poignant, and bittersweet comedy that follows two lost souls who meet in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Tickets, 150 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com; and at LLT’s box office one hour before show time on performance days.

Art Auction

An art auction to benefit the cultural project Colores Que Dan Vida (colors that give life), will be held Saturday, July 17, at Restaurant Viva Mexico, San Juan Cosala. Works by 39 local artists will be sold under the gavel of Luis Pinedo.

The auction will be held at two times: 1:30 p.m., with entertainment by Lola la Tequilera, and again at 5:30 p.m., with music by the International School String Orchestra. Colores que Dan Vida is an art project for children, which began in 2019 but had to shut down during the pandemic. The program is gearing up again to give classes to up to 20 children who live in economically challenged conditions.

Saturday, July 17: Profuguos rock covers band plays Camaleon Bar, 9 p.m.; Catharsis rock band plays the Iron Horse, 8 p.m.; Codigo 45920 plays La Changada bar, 9 p.m.; Marbles and the Quantum Cats play the Ajijic Pub House, 7:30 p.m.

Lakeside Little Theatre will hold auditions for Edward Albee’s “Everything in the Garden” from the play by Giles Cooper, Thursday and Friday, July 22 and 23. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the auditions start at 10 a.m.

Director Peggy Lord Chilton is looking for three men and two women (one with a good British accent), one male or female who can play a 15-16 year old, and three men and three women with little or no theatrical experience who would like to give some small parts a try.

Flamenco

La Cochera Cultural is hosting a night of flamenco, Saturday, July 24, 7:30 p.m.

Concerts in the Park

Roy Cruz performs the Freddie Mercury Story: “I Want It All” at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Sunday, July 25.

Cruz takes you on an energetic, visual, and emotional journey through the songs and life events that made Freddie Mercury larger than life. His powerful vocals and unbelievable impersonation bring you as close as you’ll ever be to the rock icon of all times.

The Crooner’s “Tribute to Elegance” will be on stage August 22, and showgirl Christine Deaver performs August 29.

All three acts give two performances, at 3:30 and 6 p.m.
