LLT season 58 closer

The Lakeside Little Theatre’s next production is “33 Variations,” by Moises Kaufman, and directed by Suki O’Brien. Show continues Friday, March 31, 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2, p.m.

In parallel tales of obsession, musicologist Katherine Brandt attempts to uncover the motivation behind Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, a series of 33 variations on an ordinary waltz by a composer he felt was beneath him.

The cast comprises Diana Rowland, M.A. Bruneau, Ricardo Del Toro, Rob Stupple, Ken Yakiwchuk, Randy Warren, and Donna Burroughs. The ensemble is comprise of Chris L’Ecluse, Jutta McAdam and Deborah Elder. Rodrigo Leal Murillo is the pianist.

Tickets are 350 pesos at the LLT website, or the LLT box office one hour before curtain on all performance days, or Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon the week before the show opens, and the week of performance.

Jazz in the afternoon

Collective exhibit

Galeria Monica Cardenas will host a collective exhibit of painting, photography, collage and poetry by Kenia Cano, Monica Cardnas, Jorge Esquinca and Mario Heredia, Saturday, April 1. The three poets invite you to read your poem in English or Spanish at the open mike. Poetry readings begin 6 p.m. and the inauguration of the exhibit is 7 to 9 p.m. After the readings you can see the Pata de Perro exhibition in which the poets use image as an expression tool through collage, painting and photography.

Concerts in the Park

Lauren Jade will perform a tribute to Gladys Knight Monday, April 3, 5 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.

From hits like “Friendship Train,” “If I Were Your Woman,” “Neither One of Us,” and  all-time favorite “Midnight Train to Georgia,” this show takes you down memory lane and will have you singing along, engaged from start to finish.

LLT acting class

Actor, director and teacher David Goldman will give an activation course in method acting, Wednesdays, April 5 and 12 and Saturdays, April 8 and 15, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakeside Little Theatre, as part of the LLT Academy. This course is for those who have performed in one or more plays and would like to take their acting to a deeper level. Class limited to eight students. Cost is 1,200 pesos. Jalisco singer Ari Loyola joins well-known band Triálogo for a special concert at the “Jazz Super Club” at Casa del Sol Inn Saturday, April 15, 7 p.m. The ensemble has prepared a very special repertoire ranging from great classics to Nina Simone and Sting, with special arrangements made by Triálogo.
