• American Legion Post 7 Auxiliary will hold a holiday bazaar featuring artisans, crafters and a bake sale Saturday, November 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dance
• The Origin of Dance (El Origen de la Danza) a two-hour presentation by students of the University of Guadalajara’s Scenic Arts and Dance Expression will tell the story of the evolution of dance, passing through pre-history, the great cultures, court dances and the beginning of ballet, in performance, Sunday, November 10, noon at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR). • Echos of the Past: mariachi and ballet folklorico will perform in a benefit for Niños Incapacitados, Thursday, November 14, 4 p.m. at the CCAR. Tickets, 350 pesos, are available at voyalteatro.com.

A singing contest for students in Jocotepec Jr. High and High Schools, La Voz del Municipio, takes place in Jocotepec Saturday, November 23, 7 p.m. Prizes for the best voices include professional recording, media presentations and a tour of the state, a video musical and cash.
