Opera
Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will project The Metropolitan Opera’s filmed live performance of “Grounded” Sunday and Monday, November 17 and 18 at 4 p.m.
Grounded tells the tale of a hot-shot F16 fighter pilot, Tess, the only woman in her squadron. When she becomes pregnant, she decides to have the child, is “grounded,” but eventually becomes a drone pilot and faces tortuous moral dilemmas that threaten her marriage, her motherhood, and even her sanity.
George Brant wrote the stage play “Grounded,” which opened to wide acclaim in 2013. Tony-Award-winning Jeanine Tesori composed the music for the revised 2023 opera version. The opera is in English. Tickets, 350 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com.
Bare Stage Theatre
Nova Scotia playwright Daniel MacIvor’s ‘The Best Brothers’ explores themes of death, dysfunction and sibling rivalry through humor and heartfelt moments.
MacIvor’s unique twist features the late mother appearing through the brothers’ perspectives, adding depth to their relationship. It’s an incredibly interesting device because MacIvor has each brother playing their late mother the way they saw her.
Starring Brian Kaulback and Patrick Trotter and directed by Darlene Sherwood, “The Best Brothers” is an engaging experience for anyone with or without siblings.
Show dates are Friday to Sunday, November 22 to 24; all at 4 p.m. Tickets, 200 pesos, can be reserved at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
