‘Dinner’ at LLT

From December 6 to 15, Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will present the third production of its 60th season, “Dinner,” a dark, satirical thriller written by award-winning playwright Moira Buffini. The play depicts a hilariously disastrous—and ultimately shocking—dinner party from hell.

• An exhibition of Karen Spencer’s photographs and unique tracing drawings opens Friday, December 6, 6 p.m. at the Sol y Luna Gallery. Spencer will donate 50 percent of her sales to the Centro Educativo Jaltepec.

• An art show by Juan Romo and Lily Cota will open December 11, 4 p.m. at Casa Treeskel, Carretera 998 in West Ajijic.Courtesy wine and aperitives will be avialable.

• The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild hosts a group exhibition and sale of fine art on Wednesday, December 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Plaza Bugambilias in Ajijic, alongside the nearby Wednesday Street Market. Meet the artists and explore stunning works displayed on the street level and upstairs mezzanine. The Guild, featuring professional artists, also has works on view in the lobby of the BRAVO! Theatre. • Galeria Sol Mexicano hosts a holiday open house Friday, December 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. Meet the gallery’s artists, The Oil Cloth Queens and the Art Show Amigas. Enjoy wine, snacks and a collection of art, handicrafts and gift ideas. The gallery is located on the ground floor of Plaza Bugambilias in Ajijic, local 2.

Sinatra’s Birthday

Celebrate Frank Sinatra’s 109th birthday while supporting Niños Incapacitados on Thursday, December 12, at 5:30 p.m. at El Bar Co. Tickets, priced at 600 pesos, include entry into a prize drawing. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in the elegant style of Sinatra’s era (tuxedos and gowns, etc.).

A Dickens of a ghost story

The BRAVO! Theatre presents “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” written by Tom Mula and directed by Randy Warren, from December 17 to 22.

This reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic asks: Why did Jacob Marley’s ghost bother visiting Scrooge?  He was already dead and damned, so what was in it for him? We get Marley’s side of the story in “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” a reworking of Dickens’ story that is fun and sometimes zany, yet still delivers its holiday cheer.

The Chicago Herald called it “thoroughly charming – a holiday treat.”

Maloy Murdock stars as Marley’s ghost, with Suki O’Brien as a mischievous hell sprite. Additional cast members include Roger Larson, Donna Burroughs, Keith Tandy and Brian Fuqua as Scrooge.

The crafts of Michoacan in Zamora

Zamora, located in Michoacán, is shortly hosting its first Juried Craft Fair and Stephanie Schneiderman of Tia Stephanie Tours is offering complimentary transportation (shared only) to attend this inaugural event. Schneiderman’s group is invited to the Juried Fair Preview Day on Friday, December 13. Transportation will depart at 8 a.m. from Black Coffee, with a return scheduled for approximately 5:30 p.m. The fair will feature over 500 artisans showcasing 16 different techniques, including textiles (notably the famed Purepecha rebozos), copper, ceramics, jewelry, lacquerware, and more. Traditional cooks, known as “Cocineras Tradicionales,” will serve their renowned regional dishes such as corundas, uchepos, churipo, carnitas, cheeses, mezcal, and more.
