Tribute to Lady Gaga

Maru Prado Conti presents a tribute to Lady Gaga, with special guest Chris Lopez, at a Concerts in the Park event at the Lake Chapala Society on Sunday, July 8. Art in the Plaza

Art in the Plaza will be held Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Centro Laguna Mall, with art and crafts for sale from various local artists and craftspeople.

• The Lakeside Jazz Series presents a tribute concert to Charles Mingus 6 p.m. at Casa del Arte, Av. del Pilar 8A in Riberas del Pilar. Performing will be double bassist Kike Mayoral, pianist Marc Fabbricatore, guitarist Juan Castañon, and drummer Archi Salcedo. Tickets: 500 pesos.

SUNDAY

• The Danny Lopez Jazz Quartet will perform a free concert, 12:30 p.m. at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo in Chapala. Musicians are Daniel Lopez, Eliud Ernandes, Guillermo Valadez and Juan Espinoza.

• Eva Jimenez will perform as PINK with special guest Losanna Diaz, featuring dancers, videos, and costumes. The VIP party begins 6 p.m. and the main show at 7 p.m.

Exhibits

• Aldo Varela (Rey Migrante) opens the exhibition “Inconmensurable” on Friday, June 6, 6 p.m. at the Centro Cultural Ajijic.

• Artist Nelly Rocha presents recent works in her exhibition “Rostos que Inspiran,” opening Saturday, June 7, 6 p.m. at the Galería Miguel Miramontes in the Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia. The event will be enhanced by pianist Sofía Ramírez.

• A cocktail opening for the collective exhibit “Malinalli, Malintzin, Malinche” takes place at Gallo Gallery, Hidalgo 113 in Riberas del Pilar, Saturday, June 7, 7 p.m..

Participating artists are Aliria Morales, Carla Elena Name, Daniel Morales, Eduardo Robles Nieto, Eugenia Velis, Fernando Reyes, Leticia Lagos, Lillie Minor, Eugenia Orozco, Paola Medina Fernandez and Yolanda Veytia.

A collective exhibit, El Tiempo del Jardin, is up at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera is up through June 20.

Opera

Lakeside Little Theatre screens Gioachino Rossini’s comic “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” (The Barber of Seville)—the final opera in its nine-opera Met Live series—on June 7, 8, and 9, 4 p.m.

Sung in Italian (with English subtitles) and filmed live at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House, this acclaimed production will be shown in LLT’s air-conditioned McIntosh Auditorium. Tickets are 350 pesos and available at lakesidelittletheatre.com.

Kids stuff

• MyLand, El Bajio 1B in West Ajijic, is offering summer artistic classes for children 7 to 13 Monday to Friday,, July 21 to August 9. Information at 331-712-4218.

• Centro Cultural Ajijic (CCA) offers Saturday art workshops for kids with instructor Victoººr Larios. Painting (minimum age six) runs from 10 a.m. to noon with a cost of 300 pesos per month. The papier mache mask class (minimum age nine) is from noon to 2 p.m., costing 350 pesos per month. The classes begin June 14. Information and registration at the CCA office or at 331-719-3331.
