Bare Stage Theatre

The hilarious play “Hoorray for Johnny Canuck” opens Friday at Bare Stage Theatre. This spirited, satirical play reimagines the iconic comic book hero, Johnny Canuck, and his team fighting Nazis and fascists in World War II, almost single-handedly, saving the world.

Roseann Wilshire directs cast members Rex Gale, Juan Grattan, Maureen O’Hearn, Dave Oldham, Mike Rogers and Darlene Sherwood. Exhibits

• Transfiguraciones, an exhibit of Antonio Quintero’s work in Ceramic and metal, is up at the Centro Cultural Ajijic.

• The murals of San Antonio Tlayacapan will be inaugurated on the plaza, along with the artists, Saturday, September 6, 5 p.m.

 

Children’s art sale

The Efrén González Children’s Art Program is holding a children’s art sale Saturday, September 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Art Connection’s “Art in the Plaza” exhibition, to be held in the main plaza of San Antonio Tlayacapan.

Half of the proceeds go directly to the young artists, helping nurture the next generation of creative talent at Lakeside.

• The Ixtalacateotl Folkloric Ballet performs at the Centro Cultural Ajijiic, 7 p.m.

• A free Encuentro de Mariachi concert will be held 7:30 p.m., at Chapala’s waterfront Malecon, with no charge for chairs in the open seating area. There will be 200 chairs set up in the open seating area. Latecomers/overflow crowd may be relegated to standing room only space. Admission is free of charge.
