Art events

Monday, May 18 is International Museum Day. The San Antonio Community Museum will hold events on the plaza and the Cuauhtemoc Primary School corridor, including a children’s painting workshop, a conference on the international commerce of the prehispanic pieces in the museum from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and finishing with a concert by Ricardo Glauder at 8 p.m.

Art workshops

• A Mexican folk art workshop focusing on metal embossing of crosses will take place at El Pilar Bistro in Riberas del Pilar, Saturday, May 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Three techniques will be taught: stained-glass painting, markers and acrylic. Exhibits

• Paintings by Arlette Romero and sculptures by David Agredano at “Dos Visiones,” at the Galeria Luis Lopez Terriquez in the Antigua Presidencia in Chapala.

• Chapala-based textile artist Synthia David’s first local show, “Light Up Your Life,” featuring hand-painted silk batik lamps (ArtLites), handcrafted handbags and scarves, is up at Casa del Sol Inn.

• Tapatio artist Diego Reynoso’s photographic exhibit “La Marca del Agua, Capas de un Desastre” that focuses on the environment, is up at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera, open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
