Bare Stage
This summer, Bare Stage celebrates Neil Simon, master of comedy and beloved playwright whose work has delighted audiences around the world.
The fun kicks off with “The Odd Couple,” Simon’s comedic masterpiece exploring the chaotic synergy between polar opposites when obsessive neat-freak Felix Ungar moves in with his slovenly friend Oscar Madison after separating from his wife.
The result is comedic gold!
Roseann Wilshere directs John Ward as Oscar Madison, Patrick Trotter as Felix Unger, supported by Ross Anderson, Mark Donaldson, Juan Grattan, Gene Ma, Leatha Martin and Maureen O’Hearn.

• A Gala Flamenca will be held at Lakeside Little Theatre to benefit Ajijic Cares, Monday, July 13, 3 and 7 p.m. Produced by Pulso Flamenco del Lago, the performers include Sofia Arce, Mario Ruiz, Paulina Ruiz, Jose Bramasco, Fernando Martinez, Santiago Maisterra and Emilia Galvez. National Theatre
Lakeside Little Theatre will screen the National Theatre Live production of “The Playboy of the Western World,” by John Millington Synge, Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, 4 p.m. Tickets, 350 pesos, available at the box office or the LLT website.
Exhibits
• Centro Cultural Ajijic (CCA) inaugurates “Arte Orgánico”, the first solo exhibition by Mario Ramírez, on Saturday, June 27, at 5:30 p.m. The show features more than 20 new works in acrylic, watercolor, oil and mixed media, reinterpreting landscapes, traditions and everyday life through the artist’s memories of agave fields and Mexican popular art — the formative influences that shaped his visual world. The exhibition runs through July 17. The CCA is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Local artists Rigoberto Navarro and Efrén González celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Ajijic Museo de Arte (AMA) with a new exhibit. Navarro shows a diverse collection of sculptures carved from stone and wood. González presents some of his most recent paintings. The exhibit also showcases the rotation of works from the entire AMA collection, representing dozens of Mexican and foreign Lakeside artists. AMA is located at Flores Magón 3, West Ajijic, open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Tapatio artist Diego Reynoso’s photographic exhibit “La Marca del Agua, Capas de un Desastre,” focusing on the environment, is up at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera, open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Runs through June 28.
• Don’t miss “Rumores y Colores” by Jorge Monroy, at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo, through June 28. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday to 2 p.m.
LCS Summer Art Camp
Looking for a fun, creative and enriching summer experience for your children? The Lake Chapala Society’s free Summer Art Camp will take place Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Children will have the opportunity to explore a variety of exciting workshops, including: watercolor painting, drawing, papier-mâché, recycled art, literature and storytelling, collage, crochet, embroidery.
