Am I the only one noticing a lot of risky behavior going on in our community these days? Last I heard, the coronavirus pandemic is not only still with us, but now surging in a new wave with the virulent Delta strain.
Over the past week Governor Enrique Alfaro and Jalisco health authorities have warned of an alarming spike in new Covid cases and rising hospitalization of patients with severe symptoms. Hospitals in the Guadalajara metro area equipped with Covid treatment wards report that beds have become more scarce, with at least four currently listed at full capacity.
In that light, why is that many inhabitants of the Chapala area seem to have relaxed guard against contagion? They show up at local festivities that have been resumed, turn up at private parties going on continually and swarm to restaurants and bars that are packing in customers with enticements of special menus and musical entertainment.
