The Center for Non-Figurative Art (CIANF), an abstract art gallery and school located eight kilometers west of Guadalajara in Pinar de la Venta, recently opened “Abstract/Fusión,” an exhibit showcasing the work of four artists from Jalisco and four from Oaxaca.

pg8a“With this exhibit we are reaching out to artists in other Mexican states,” CIANF Director José de Jesús “Pepe” Olivares said at the opening. “While we are inviting them to exhibit here, at the same time we are arranging for Jalisco artists to display their work in participating states.  I think visitors to the exhibit will be pleasantly surprised to find that the art scene is alive and robust in Oaxaca.”

The participating artists from Oaxaca are Misael Méndez, Aarón García and Virgilio Santaella. Working with them, but residing in Mexico City, is Hermine Demiro. The Jalisco artists are Margarita Vega, Margarita de Silva, Anibal Delgado and José de Jesús Olivares.
