Downtown buzzing with regional art & crafts

Lovers of Mexican arts and crafts should head over to the Plaza Liberacion in Guadalajara’s centro historico this weekend for the final days of a fair that has been going on throughout the Easter holidays.

The Expo Venta Artesano Corazon de Jalisco is showcasing the skills of almost 220 craftsmen and women from 45 municipalities in Jalisco (just over one-third of the total). As well as arts and crafts, expect to find typical food and beverages, textiles, clothes and regional candies. Because of limited prior publicity for the event, some participants are asking state authorities to rehash the fair later in the year. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 6-8), across from the Degollado Theater, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. No charge.
