US expats organize another Trump protest

The Guadalajara Chapter of Democrats Abroad has announced it is joining the upcoming global “No Kings-No Tyrants” rally to protest the policies of the Donald Trump administration.

The rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to noon, outside the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara. Organizers have asked participants to gather at the end of Avenida Manuel Acuña on the west side of the Glorieta Monraz. They note that paid parking is available at the Walmart across the street.

“We’re standing with U.S. citizens abroad and our neighbors in Mexico to say: It shouldn’t be this way. From threats to Social Security and Healthcare, to Voter Suppression and attacks on Human Rights, our voices matter,” the expat group states on its Facebook event page,

This rally continues a series of demonstrations that began under the “No Kings-No Tyrants” banner on June 14. These, in turn, succeeded earlier 2025 rallies called “Hands Off,” which criticized the U.S. government downsizing, and Trump’s policies impacting the economy, immigration, human rights and more.

Editor’s note: Mexican and non-U.S. citizens are advised to consider the risks before joining the protest. The U.S. Consulate will likely record and archive surveillance footage of all attendees. Given the U.S. government’s current crackdown on dissent by foreigners, participants could later be flagged when applying for a U.S. visa, potentially leading to a denial on the grounds of involvement in “anti-American activities.”
