The American Society of Jalisco (AMSOC) is active in spades this month, with a diverse lineup of events aimed at fostering community, learning and well-being.
One of the highlights of this past week was the AMSOC Speaker Series on Wednesday, March 11, which featured Armelle Cloche, founder of ThisWeekInGuadalajara.com. Her talk, “AI for Real Life: Simple Tools That Make Your Day Easier,” was a beginner-friendly guide to using artificial intelligence for health, travel planning and organization.
On Thursday, March 12, noon, the Weekly Luncheon featured a menu of ribs, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake, followed by games such as Mahjong and Backgammon at 1 p.m.
For those looking to practice their Spanish or help others with English, the Conversation Club meets on Saturday, March 14, 2 to 4 p.m.
AMSOC will mark its own Birthday on Monday, March 16. On Tuesday, March 17, there is a morning Cognitive Stimulation for Adults session at 11 a.m., followed that evening by the Third Tuesday Book Club at 6:30 p.m., where the group will discuss “Tequila Wars” by Ted Genoways.
Later in the month, on Friday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, instructor Heather Luna will lead a session on Expressive Art Therapy (350 pesos for members, 400 for non-members).
AMSOC also hosts recurring weekly support meetings, including Alcoholics Anonymous (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays), Narcotics Anonymous (Saturdays), and the Thursday luncheon and games.
All events take place at the clubhouse at Avenida San Francisco 3332, Colonia División del Norte.
