Holiday cheer for Chapala's men in blue

Acting Chapala police chief Moisés Torres has issued an appeal for community support in throwing a Christmas Posada party for local officers and their families.

Around 300 people, including police department personnel, spouse and children are expected to attend the holiday gathering and pozole dinner scheduled for Wednesday, December 17.

Cash donations, holiday treats, toys for youngsters, food packages for the family pantries and gift items to be raffled off among the officers may be dropped off at police headquarters, located at Calle Niños Heroes 65 at the corner of Zaragoza. Contributions of furnishings to improve living conditions and boost morale at the police station would also be greatly welcomed. The wish list includes kitchen appliances, furniture and bedding that will allow staff to rest in comfort between patrol outings on 24-hour duty shifts. All donors are cordially invited to attend the party.

For further information, contact Torres at 765-7755 or Cell 333-722-5566. English speaking callers may speak with officer Hector who is normally on duty from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
