Fundraising event needs community support

A fundraiser for a young, local woman needing two total hip transplants has been organized. The campaign is called “Help Caro to Walk.”

pg11Carolina (Caro) Lopez was injured in a bicycle accident as a child. Now 38 and in constant pain, Caro labors to walk due to the longstanding damage and progressive disintegration of her hips.  She is unable to work, has no familial support, and is in dire need of assistance for surgery and sustenance until she can walk and work.

This bright and personable young woman has dreams of a normal, productive and pain-free life. But that future appears out of reach without help. Organizers of the event are hoping that the fundraiser will raise the life-changing funds Caro so badly needs.

The event will be held Thursday, August 29, 5 to 8 p.m. at the popular restaurant Adelita’s in San Antonio Tlayacapan.  The evening will feature live music, dancing, dinner, a silent auction and more.

Tickets offering a choice of entrees can be purchased before August 23 for 350 pesos at It’s Kinda Bazar in Riberas del Pilar, Diane Pearl in central Ajijic and Adelita’s in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

Tickets can also be purchased by contacting event organizer Bob Foster via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
