Quinta Quetzalcoatl revived as plush hotel

Tucked behind an imposing stone wall at Calle Zaragoza 307 in the heart of Chapala, visitors from near and far will find a local historical site that has recently gained a new lease on life as an enchanting traveler’s haven.

pg11aQuinta Quetzalcoatl, or Villa QQ as it is dubbed today, is a lush and sprawling property that encompasses a plush boutique hotel along with several separate private homes. Its main claim to fame is a connection to famed British author D.H. Lawrence, who lived in the house on a sliver of the grounds while penning his first draft of the novel “The Plumed Serpent” in 1923.
