Christ Church
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the second Sunday of Advent, December 6, by celebrating the Holy Eucharist, 11 a.m. in the La Huerta Eventos Facility. Rev. Linda Ramos will celebrate and give a message “Repentance and Forgiveness” based on Mark 1:1-8. Covid-19 ordinances and Diocesan mandates will be observed. Masks are required.
There will not be a Zoom service. Minimal sealed refreshments will be available following the service. Those wishing to have brunch/lunch will meet at the Smoke House Restaurant, 12:15 p.m.
Loaves and Fishes Food Distribution will be held Tuesday, December 8, 12:30 p.m., at Calle Sta. Margarita 313A (cross corners from the Baptist Church). Help will be needed to fill the buckets with food for distribution to the very needy. Wearing your protective gear is mandatory.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Sunday, December 6, at the 10 a.m. service of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church (LPC), worship services are at facebook/lpcchapala or www.lpcchapala.org. Devotionals are on the same sites on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Handel’s “Messiah” was based on the text we are using as our preparation for Advent. The word Advent means coming. Advent referred to the first coming of Christ into the world when he was born in Bethlehem.
The second Advent refers to the time when Jesus is coming back again. On Sunday, we are looking at two of the four versicles: Jesus is “The Mighty God.”
LPC supports some feeding programs at San Antonio Tlayacapan, Mezcala, La Cuesta, and La Zapotera Villages. At each location, an average of 70 children receive meals three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The week of November 23 to 29 LPC delivered 34 despensas (pantry supplies). We insert some Bible verses in every despensa and one Daily Bread to share the Gospel, since it is the primary goal of the church’s mission. Christmas Is for kids! Due to COVID, we will not see each other on Christmas Day and are therefore unable to fulfill LPC’s Christmas tradition of bringing gifts to place under the tree for the children. However, LPC will be collecting financial contributions for gifts to be given to the approximately 400 children we minister here at Lakeside, and we plan to put an illustrated Christmas story in each bag. St. Andrew’s Anglican
Sunday, December 6, St. Andrew’s congregation will worship in-person at church at 10 a.m. with the allowed 25-percent capacity – 40 people. There also will be seats available outside for more worshipers. The service will also be live-streamed.
The Rev. Robbin Moore will preach on December 6, the second Sunday of Advent.
Each Tuesday in Advent, we offer a meditation, prayer and sharing group on Zoom, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Please contact the office for details.
St. Andrew’s Outreach Committee has re-created its traditional “Angel Tree” Christmas gift program. From now until Christmas Day, Angel Tree cash donations will be accepted at our church, with donors receiving a lovely “Angel Card” to sign and hang on our Christmas tree.
After Christmas, Outreach members will use the funds to buy gifts from wish lists from two Chapala charities: Mama Cleo’s House for teenage boys, and Casa de Ancianos, a home for needy elderly and the mentally challenged. Gifts will be presented to representatives of the charities on Three Kings Sunday, January 10, during our service. Reverend Robbin will dedicate the gifts and bless the Christmas Angels. All are welcome to join us.
Because the October Harvest Comida was cancelled, St. Andrew’s has rescheduled it as a “Holiday Event,” on Monday, December 7. The cost is 275 pesos for a full turkey dinner, including dessert and Social and Hospitality’s special cranberry sauce. Those who paid earlier for the cancelled October comida are considered paid-up for the December take-away dinner You may sign up at church later in the month.

Lake Chapala Baptist
Does anyone here know CPR? We have this person here in desperate need of resuscitation. His heart needs to be revived and fast. The ambulance has just arrived and they have the paddles with that super strong electric current to start the heart beating again. Man’s efforts on CPR just couldn’t revive this person. We needed something infinitely more powerful.
This example is so like the church. Where is the passion for reviving the church for the glory of God? We are in desperate need of revival, but as Pastor John Linton said, “No one can ignite a joyful passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, unless God the Holy Spirit is pouring out the power of His grace abundantly to do so.” As mere humans we cannot do this alone. It’s like CPR for a dying person. We need that superpower to start hearts beating again. We need the power of the Holy Spirit working through us to ignite a passion for revival, renewal, and repentance. However, humble, heartfelt prayer must precede from God’s people to accomplish this very great work with passion.
What is your spiritual passion? Pastor John summed his up as follows: “I delight in the breathtaking beauty of God’s greatness, I delight to effectively proclaim the Gospel truth of God’s Word to the nations, I delight to stir up a joyful passion for Jesus our Savior, and I delight for the supremacy and the glory of God.”
Ian Murray contrasts God-centered revival with man-centered revivalism. Man-made techniques are used to stir up emotions and manipulate people in order to produce a certain response, decision, or action. True revival is something only God can do. We need much more than CPR; we need supernatural power.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus…” Ephesians 3:20

“Who was declared the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 1:4). It’s during this Christmas season that we have thoughts of Jesus being born in a manger in Bethlehem. We see nativity scenes large and small and sometimes even live portrayals of the Saviour’s birth. When we see those scenes we don’t think of Christ as the all-powerful Son of God. But Jesus was the Son of God, before His incarnation. In fact He was never anything but the Son of God. But He didn’t come into the world as the Son of God with power, He came as a helpless baby. Even though He was still the Son of God, He allowed Himself to be weak and helpless. He was like a king travelling incognito; no one knew His real identity. He lived a sinless life, went to the cross and died as a sacrifice for sin. But the moment you come to the resurrection, His glory is revealed; He’s the Son of God with power. Fully God and fully man; that’s the glory of Jesus Christ.
