Disc golf tourney a big hit at Cristiania Park

Parque La Christiania once again hosted an international disc golf tournament, the “Abierto de la Riviera 2021.”

pg14bThe course, founded by Terry Vidal, the former executive director of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) and the owner of Riders of the Sierra Madre, welcomed more than 50 players and as many guests in three days of competitive play at all levels.

Winners enjoyed cash prizes, trophies, a case of Fitzer-brand Hard Seltzer and even hand-painted bottles of premium tequila provided by Alberto from the Tamayo Disc Golf Club in Monterrey. In addition to the prizes, each contestant got a swag bag including a pro-level disc, locally made candies, mini-disc placement markers, hand towels, a high quality polo shirt and more items.

Sponsors Electrolit and Fitzer provided more than 600 free beverages on ice to the thirsty and grateful group of participants who played four rounds over three days. Tasty sandwiches and hand squeezed orange juice provided a light lunch on Saturday in the middle of the morning and afternoon rounds. As usual, the Lakeside weather was perfect, with little wind to hamper disc throws.
