Weekly Worship - September 18, 2021

Lake Chapala Baptist

Pastor John Linton centered last Sunday’s impassioned sermon around the devastating folly of breaking covenant with God.

“Do you resist Christ?” He asked. “We have an enemy who can lead our minds away from the purity and simplicity of devotion to Christ. But all of God’s riches are ours in Christ Jesus. He freely gives us everything, including the Holy Spirit. We have no excuse not to turn from the distractions of this world and follow Him… all the way.”

Share thoughtful weekly sermons, uplifting music, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom at Lake Chapala Baptist Church every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Adult Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m., and Bible study groups meet Tuesdays, 10 a.m. for women and 10:30 a.m. for men.

If you google “you are what you think about,” you’ll get more than 3,220,000,000 results. This concept is not news. It has been repeated. People from Marcus Aurelius to Mark Twain have repeated it. There are so many options for what to think about....but only a very few are of real value. On Sunday, Sep. 19, Associate Pastor Carolyn Hansen’s sermon is “What are you thinking about?” using Philippians 4:4-23 as the text.

Abundant Life Church

Is there hope for a failed church? If we look at the history of the church we will find much a failure. If the pace registered in the Book of Acts would have continued, the entire world would have heard the good news of Jesus many times over. Is there hope when the church has become self-centered and more concerned about politics and social issues than fulfilling the Great Commission? Come this Sunday, September 19, to find the answer. There is still hope…His name is Jesus and he changes everything!

English Sunday service is at 10 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com. Bible study is Wednesdays at 3 p.m. in English. Carretera Chapala-Joco 140 in San Antonio Tlayacapan, a block from Super Lake market.
