Weekly Worship - October 23, 2021

Lake Chapala Baptist

“Seek the Lord and live!” was the galvanizing message to today’s church in last Sunday’s sermon at the Lake Chapala Baptist Church. Couldn’t be more direct, right? And it’s from way back in the Old Testament book of Amos.

“Do you feel far from God?” Pastor John asked. “It’s a one-way position, isn’t it? Because God is never far from us. Do not lose heart! Guard your heart with the word of God. Love the good and hate evil -- that’s hate, not dislike, distaste or mere discomfort.

“Be dynamic in your own restoration,” he said. “Change for mercy is never passive, it’s dynamic. Change is never easy, but it should be powerful, like a tube of compressed air. God, who placed the Pleiades just so, always holds out a bright promise of hope.”

Share thoughtful weekly sermons, uplifting music, God-driven fellowship, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom at Lake Chapala Baptist Church every Sunday, 10:45 a.m. Adult Sunday school 9:45 a.m., and Bible study groups Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar. Covid protocols are observed.

Abundant Life Church

There is a saying, “They´re a glutton for punishment.”  We say this about people who can’t seem to learn their lesson and who keep getting into trouble. This certainly could have been said of the first-century church. They were punished and told to stop preaching in the name of Jesus but they just kept on preaching. They were scattered due to the intense persecution but they preached everywhere they went. God is just as real today as in the days of the early church and it is not that the church is a glutton for punishment, but rather she has decided to obey God rather than man. Come this Sunday, October 24, to be encouraged knowing that even today persecution won’t stop the preaching because the message is worth the suffering.

English Sunday service is at 10 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com. Return to Bible studies in person Wednesday, October 20, 11 a.m. Carretera Chapala-Joco 140 in San Antonio Tlayacapan, a block from SuperLake market.
