The video documentary “The Case for Christ,” by Lee Strobel will be screened Wednesday, January 5, 4 p.m. Strobel was a well known Chicago Tribune writer in the 1970’s when he set out to prove that the Bible account of Christ’s resurrection couldn’t be true.
Conversational Spanish is Fridays at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, open to all who are interested in improving their spoken Spanish.
Little Chapel is still collecting jackets and coats to give away in the village of San Juan Tecomatlan. Join us for our distribution January 4; carpooling from the Little Chapel at 3 p.m.
Unitarians
The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship offers in-person services for those who are fully vaccinated at the fellowship hall located on the Carretera at Hidalgo 261, Riberas del Pilar (and also on Zoom). Covid-19 protocols are followed and masks are required.
One of our Unitarian Universalist ministerial colleagues has said, “I often like to think of us as the religion of ‘Why not?!’” At our theological core is a sense of openness, of making space for possibility. We have an expansive religion, easily able to hold many ideas, beliefs, values, at once, all as possible. As we close out one year, and begin another, it’s a good time to reflect on what’s possible for us. Rev. Matt Alspaugh will give the sermon and Dee Dee Camhi is the service leader.

St. Andrew’s Anglican
On the second Sunday after Christmas, January 2, St. Andrew’s Anglican is open for worship. All Covid protocols are followed, and masks must be worn.
The Reverend Robbin Moore will preach and celebrate Holy Communion.
St. Andrew’s feeding program collects non-perishable food items to donate to “Operation Feed,” which feeds about 140 families in and around San Juan Cosalá. Pledge envelopes marked “RICE” or “BEANS” are available every Sunday.

Lake Chapala Baptist
Pastor John Linton did a yeoman’s job last weekend, delivering back to back sermons on Christmas day, a Saturday, and also on Sunday. Both messages hit hard and moved the congregation deeply, even when the Sunday sermon — all typed and ready on his tablet — somehow disappeared. This last little problem, “every pastor’s worst nightmare,” never even slowed him down, so infused was he with the thoughts he wanted to communicate.
“Every Christian,” he said, “is called to be an extreme and potent intercessor. We are called not to simply worry on our knees, but to pray without resting, like the watchman atop a high city wall, guarding the city from without and within.
“God is personally and intimately involved with every nation and household, and even with the unbeliever. Even when we don’t see His hand and it’s just ‘another wonderful day in Mexico, in paradise,’ God is still with us, never forsaking us… and that means never.”

Christ Church Lakeside
Christ Church Lakeside, a parish of the Diocese of the West in the Anglican Church of Mexico, will observe the second Sunday after Christmas Day, January 2, by celebrating the Holy Eucharist service in person and via Zoom at 10:30 a.m. in our location with the red door and windows next door to the Smokehouse Restaurant.

This week Associate Pastor Carolyn Hansen’s sermon is about Martha and Mary: Among Jesus’ closest friends—other than the twelve disciples—was a small family of adult siblings: Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. If you have brothers and sisters, you know they can challenge you more than anyone else in the world. Yet they can inspire love, loyalty, and (sometimes) spiritual growth, as well. These sisters loved the same lord. We can learn from both of these sisters, as they learned from each other.
In-church services are at 9:30 a.m. for the English language service, and 11 a.m. for the Spanish language service. All masking and social distancing protocols are in place.
