Lake Chapala Baptist

Last Sunday, Pastor John Linton ventured into some of the darkest corners of the Bible, drawing from the Old Testament books to illustrate his urgent point: that God is good, but also just.

“God won’t rest with sin abounding,” Pastor John said. “His hand is raised, soon to be lowered in a mighty crash. The Bible shows us that the nation’s sins reap a just response. And while God hates the sin but loves the sinner, our sin is intrinsic to who we are. They go together and they will be judged together.

“We are all appalled by what’s happening today, and we all know that God is coming soon. Will we have the courage to trust scripture wholeheartedly and change our errant ways?”

Pastor John began his message by saying that though it was dark, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. That light is God’s forgiveness of the true believer’s sins. So complete is this grace that God eradicates our sins from His memory forever.

Lake Chapala Baptist Church Sunday service is at 10:45 a.m. Adult Sunday school 9:45 a.m., and Bible study groups Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar. Covid protocols are observed.

Abundant Life Church

Foundations are important. Although we often don’t take time to admire the foundation of a building we all know that without it the building could not stand. When the foundation of your life is on Jesus you are secure. When the foundations of a church, town or nation are on Jesus, great things can be done. Sunday, January 30, we take time to analyze the foundations that are offered for life today.

English Sunday service is at 10 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com. Bible studies are in person Wednesdays, 11 a.m., Carretera 140 in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
