Unitarians

March 27, Lew Crippen will speak on “Free Will—Is It All an Illusion?”

Philosophers, theologians and scientists have considered and debated as to how free we are in our thoughts, choices and actions at least since the time of ancient Greece. From Aristotle, Epicurus and the Stoics through Augustine, Aquinas and Calvin, up to scientific investigation of the 1980s, consideration of free will and determinism has raged. The talk will give an overview of the topic from several different and differing perspectives. DeeDee Camhi is the service leader.

March 27, Rev. Matt Alspaugh speaking on “Leaving It All to Chance”.

Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship services are Sundays, 10:30 a.m. The fellowship board has voted to resume regular Sunday services beginning Sunday, March 27. No reservations will be required and there will no longer be a limit to the number of people who can attend. In keeping with local official guidelines, masks will be required. Also we will continue to maintain safe distance spacing of chairs.

The location of services is on the Carretera at Hidalgo 261, Riberas del Pilar.

Little Chapel by the Lake

Women’s Bible study, Tuesdays, 10 a.m. in the book of Philippians.

Friday, April 1, 4 p.m., the video will be ““Prophecies Of The Passion” by Mirada Films. Please note the change of day. Featuring Greg Laurie, Lee Strobel, and Ed Hindson.  Run time: approximately one hour.

Conversational Spanish is offered Fridays, 1 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall.

Donations for Little Chapel’s food mission in San Juan Tecomatlan are always gladly accepted via the big purple box in front of the Chapel. We are able to also contribute to our local boys home, Mama Cleo’s, via the contributions to the purple box.

Saturday, March 26, the boys from Mama Cleo’s will be manning a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Little Chapel to raise funds for their many expenses.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Pastor John Linton’s message to his LCBC flock last Sunday included such uplifting phrases as “Salvation is a miracle in our lives, a permanent changing of our hearts! … Christians, your destiny and God’s goal are one! … God holds you in the palm of His hand; what comfort is that, what glory!

“When we look at each other through the eyes of grace,” he said, “we become determined to love and forgive others. Choose to focus on giving thanks for one another, rather than being critical. Where joy abounds, unity flourishes.”

These inspiring sentiments all came out of Paul’s epistle to the Philippians.

“Paul’s letter was written in prison,” Pastor John told us, “The truths found in this epistle lead to joy. The harder we press down on a Christian’s life, the more joyful they become!

“If God has begun His good work in you, who’s going to change – you or God? Have confidence in your faith; we are promised that God will bring His saving work to completion. In simple terms, God is going to get you home!”

Share memorable weekly sermons, uplifting music, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom at Lake Chapala Baptist Church every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Bible study meets on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Located at Santa Margarita #147, Riberas del Pilar. Call 376-765-2925 or visit the LCBC Facebook page for more information. Covid protocols are observed.

This Good Friday, April 15, join with the congregation at 3 p.m for “The Twelve Cups of Passover,” a program of sacred music and Bible readings to honor the resurrection of our Lord. It’s free, and all are welcome. Bring a dish to share in our Agape Feast after the program!

Lakeside Presbyterian

Pastor Carolyn’s sermon for this week will Be from Judges: “What Happens When You Have Faith in Yourself?”

Many people commend trusting our own judgment. Believing in ourselves. Going with our gut. The book of Judges tells us, in detail, how doing that worked out for the Israelites after they entered and took control of the Promised Land. Several times in the book, we read, “In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.” The King James Version says, “Every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” It didn’t go well. And the stories are more lurid than a true crime TV show.

Bible study is Wednesday, 10 a.m., in the church sanctuary. The book of Matthew is the current focus of this initial, interactive, study.

In-church services are at 9:30 a.m. (English) and 11 a.m. (Spanish). The live English service streams each Sunday on Facebook at Lakeside Presbyterian Church-Chapala. All masking and social distancing protocols are in place.

If you need a ride to come to church, contact LPC at  376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Friday.

There are coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Abundant Life Church

Growth should be natural. The gardener expects the new tree that he planted in your garden to grow. The woman that was just told that she is pregnant expects her child to grow inside her. What we do when things are not growing varies, but we know that something needs to be done to stimulate growth. Come Sunday, March 27, to learn what a believer needs to do if they find themselves not growing in their salvation. You will also have an opportunity on Sunday to witness some who are growing as they obey the Lord´s command to be baptized.

You will also enjoy our services both on our Facebook page as well as our YouTube channel.

English Sunday service is at 10 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com. Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone.
