Lake Chapala Baptists

Last Sunday morning, Pastor Linton addressed the tragic repercussions of falling prey to false teachings.

“There are dangerous people out there,” he told us. “People who murder not the body, but the mind, who corrupt the gospel and misdirect seekers, murdering their chances for salvation by instilling error and outright lies.

“Many today believe they can be saved—find heaven, enlightenment—by righteous works based on ritual or laws. Performing good works with zeal but with erroneous intent is wasteful, is nothing! If it’s not done in Christ, it’s a waste.

“False gospel is unclear; it corrupts your thoughts and tears you away from Christianity, away from the simplicity of the gospel of grace. True righteousness isn’t the same as being a ‘good person,’ and is the opposite of self-righteousness.

“Dear friends, the gospel truth changes everything. Don’t try to do just anything. Let Christ do it all!”

Lakeside Presbyterian

This Sunday, March 12, This week Pastor Carolyn, will talk about Complete Joy.

It’s fashionable to have a low opinion of church. Church is often disapprovingly called “organized religion,” as if chaos is preferable to order. In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he writes about how much the church in Philippi gives him joy. Deep joy! That’s what church—the fellowship of followers of Jesus—gives us, too. It does take some work, and Paul let the Philippians know exactly how to pursue this joy. We’ll talk about how we find joy on Sunday.

English-language service begins at 9:30 a.m. Spanish service begins 11 a.m.

The English service also streams each Sunday at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

Everyone is welcome to the drop-in Bible study Wednesday.

Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, March 12, the topic is “Vulnerability.”

The poet and philosopher David Whyte suggests that we can choose to be vulnerable, and from that courageous and compassionate, we can inhabit the place of vulnerability as a citizen of loss. We can do this in opposition to being defended, reluctant, and isolated, unwilling to risk ourselves. In this service, we’ll explore what it means to be a citizen of loss, living in the realm of vulnerability. Rev. Matt Alspaugh will give the presentation and the service associate will be Jane Castleman

Sunday, March 19, Bob Koches will speak on “Il Dolce Far Niente (The Sweetness of Doing Nothing).” Kathy Koches will be the service associate.

Abundant Life Church

How clean is clean? Every person has their own idea of what clean means. One may instantly see the spec of dirt on the floor and declare that the house is not clean while another may never even notice. We are all different in how we see the world around us but did you know that being clean spiritually is not based on our perception but on God´s? Like a person, who sees every spec of dirt, trying to train a new maid, we are in constant training by God to have our lives cleaned to His standard. Come Sunday, March 12, as we open our lives up to God´s cleaning agent.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico. Bible study in English is held at 11 a.m. each Wednesday with Spanish language Bible studies on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
