Weekly Worship - July 15, 2023

Lakeside Presbyterian Church

This Sunday, July 16, Pastor Carolyn will talk about “Contend for the Faith: Jude.”

If you know someone who says God loves everyone exactly as they are, so we must stay exactly as we are, doing all the things we want to do, because God is so full of generosity that obviously he wants us to do that, that’s who Jude is writing to. Find people who say Jesus is one religious teacher among others, one way of salvation among others, that there are many paths to God and Jesus’ path is only one, that it’s important not to make exclusive claims or we’ll become arrogant. Those are the people Jude is writing to.

English-language service begins at 9:30 a.m. Spanish service begins 11 a.m. The English service also streams each Sunday at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study at 10 a.m.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

LPCC is at Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar, (turn toward the lake at Mom’s Restaurant).

St. Andrew’s Anglican Episcopal Church

Sunday, July 16, Reverend James Twyman will preach and celebrate at the 10 a.m. service.

“Scripture And Art,” a six-week lectionary and art adventure seminar led by Pastor Michelle, will explain the Anglican/Episcopal lectionary, which is composed of the three Bible readings—Old Testament, New Testament (Epistle) and Gospel—heard in every Sunday service.

The seminar, which continues Wednesdays, from July 19 through August 9, will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican, and will also cover the role of lectionary art that serves to enhance each Anglican/Episcopal scriptural engagement and understanding.  Pastor Michelle says that the seminar will be both an intellectually and visually stimulating experience.

To allow for more hearty discussions, the series is limited to 10 people per each of two sessions: 10 to 11:30 a.m., and 1 to 2:30 p.m.  The public is invited.

Given the small number of available seats, we suggest that those who wish to attend should contact Pastor Michelle soon, at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Mobile: 333-033-4121.

Wednesday July 19, 4 p.m., Pastor Michelle will host “A Conversation on Prayer.” Prayer is a complex and beautiful thing, she says, but at the same time it remains mysterious. She asks, “is prayer more for us, or for God?”

St. Andrew’s live streams Sunday services and sermon highlights on its Facebook page: St Andrews Anglican Lake Chapala.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Sunday, July 16, Richard Clarke will present “The Relationship Between Mind and Consciousness” at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

We all know consciousness; it pervades us, and we experience it every moment. But what is consciousness? Physicists these days talk about “The hard problem of consciousness.” Maybe the physicist’s problem comes from their assumption that consciousness emerges from matter. Clarke talks about this from the ancient Indian perspective of Advaita Vedanta, the teaching of nonduality, which he has studied for more than 30 years.

Carol Johnson will be the service leader.

Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship services are Sundays, 10:30 a.m. at Hidalgo 261, Riberas del Pilar, next to Doppio Café, across the road from the Catholic Church.

Abundant Life Church

Listening is a key element in all communication, but who do we listen to? In the world there are a lot of voices telling us what to think, how to act and who we are to be, but God wants us to listen to His voice above all the others. He is the most reliable one when it comes to all these details of our life. Come this Sunday, July 16, as we are challenged to obey the voice of God and discover how much of a blessing it is.

Services are on the Facebook page as well as the YouTube channel.

The 10:30 a.m. English services schedule is at abuntandtlifechapala.com.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico.

Heritage Baptist Church of Mexico

We have a shortage of love in the world, have you noticed? Our goal as a Church is to reach the lost, the unloving. Our job as a witness is only to tell the truth about the Word and the Gospel, not to convert and convince, not to debate.

Just share the truth and trust God. Press against your natural tendency to make the Gospel more “user-friendly.” Don’t try to make it palatable; help them see the need for repentance and true, soul-level change. The Bible is clear on the subject: A repentant spirit is a critical requisite for salvation and transformation.

Did you know that God dwells not only in places but also in people? He dwells in us. And we have the best news in the world to share. Go! Go and tell!

Join us at 11:15 a.m. in the Upper Room at the Presbyterian Church in Riberas del Pilar. Open prayer, then the worship service. Bible study and fellowship every Wednesday at 4:30.
