Lakeside Presbyterian

Sunday, December 6, Pastor Carolyn will talk about “Throwing Rocks.”

What is it about throwing stones? Throwing stones into a pool of water and watching the ripples, or trying to skip stones across a lake, can be meditative and relaxing. Some of us, however, enjoy throwing stones at people—figuratively, of course. The story we’ll read in John 8 this week shows us why, according to Jesus, we need to get out of the rock-throwing business.

The English language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar.

Heritage Baptist Church

What is our mindset when we come to church? In the time of Nehemiah there was one goal and that was to worship God. They were filled with joy, so too our worship must be with joyful and right hearts. As believers who have experienced God’s goodness and grace, we should rejoice in what He has done for us. Also in Nehemiah’s time the people were excited to have the word of God explained to them. They asked Ezra to bring the book of the Law. Consequently, worship became their goal in response to the word of the living God. But before God’s Word can have an effect on our hearts it must be understood. So many people go to church with pre-ordained ideas of what they want to hear. Do you pray that God might teach you through the word? That your hearing might be affected by the expounding and the unction of the Holy Spirit. The people in the time of Nehemiah bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground giving thanks to God for His Word.

Heritage Baptist Church meets upstairs at the Presbyterian Church in Riberas del Pilar Sundays at 11:15 a.m.: Prayer, then the Word at 11:45 a.m. Wednesdays: Bible study at 3 p.m. Info: 333-016-3743, This email address is being protected from spambots. Lake Chapala Baptist

“He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin” (Proverbs 13:3)

Instead of complaining, think differently. The Bible says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your  mind.”

(Romans 12:2)  It also says, “Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, or admirable, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)  God would not tell us to do something that is impossible. You can choose what you let your mind dwell on. Battle the thoughts that don’t line up with Scripture through prayer, and Bible study. Try it and don’t let your life “come to ruin.” We live in a wonderful place full of beauty and opportunities to help others. We should concentrate on those things and not the things that irritate us.

Lake Chapala Baptist Church is at Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar. English-language Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. English-language worship service is at 11 a.m. The Spanish-language worship service is at 12:30 p.m.

Unitarian UniversalistFellowship

Sunday, December 3, Cat Barnett will speak about “Mind-Body/Universe Connection.”

Your brain can’t tell the difference between reality and imagination.  The chemicals released by your brain when you are happy or stressed are the same, whether you are experiencing or just thinking about the experiences.  This means you should consider your habitual ways of thinking, and change them if they are negative.  Your body also produces an electromagnetic field that interacts with the fields of all the living things around you.  In this way you influence your personal reality.

Robert Barnett will be the service associate.

December 10, Jud Dolphin will speak on “Gratitude” and a new member welcome will be held. DeeDee Camhi will be the service associate.
