Heritage Baptist Church

Would you want to live out the scene in the stable where the manger stood or meet with the shepherds or wise men? Would you come eagerly as a shepherd, knowing that it is only in Christ’s blood that our hope would be found? Would you come as a wise man seeking the morning star with only one goal—to worship Him?

The wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Those gifts expressed their worship and worship should be our gift to God as well.

Looking at that tiny infant, weak and helpless, and laying in a manger, we would scarcely imagine that he would soon be marred, crushed, bruised, and broken for you and for me. That face so loving, so compassionate was twisted with thorns, beaten with sticks, and hated by the very ones He came to save.

Yes, we would want to worship Jesus, who came as a baby only to be slain for our sins.

Join us at the American Legion, Chapala. Sundays at 10:30.

Monday, December 23, 3 to 5:30 p.m., we also invite you at the same venue for a very special Old-Time Christmas Carol Singalong! There will be prizes, surprises, and lots of grand old carols (lyrics provided). It is free!

Eckankar

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.

The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.

But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?

You are invited to meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Lake Chapala Society.

The Virgin of Guadalupe provides one doorway for us to bring about this important transformation.
