The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) will continue to offer its facilities as a site for the U.S. voter assistance program run by the Lake Chapala chapter of Democrats Abroad. The same space will also be made available—on alternate days—for any Republican or conservative group that applies to provide a similar service.
The decision was announced by LCS President Hunter Johnson and Executive Director James Burns during the open session of the July 17 Board of Directors meeting.
They clarified that no board vote was necessary, as the arrangement aligns with LCS policies and procedures approved in 2020 governing political, religious, and other activities by outside organizations.
