On Saturday, October 18, Centro Educativo Jaltepec hosted a special brunch to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Linda Buckthorp — a woman whose dedication and generosity have shaped the lives of hundreds of young women through education.
The event took place in the auditorium of Jaltepec’s newly expanded facilities, which was recently named the “Linda Buckthorp Auditorium” in her honor — a tribute to more than 25 years of service and commitment to the institution.
Approximately 40 guests attended the celebration, including Linda’s closest friends and long-time supporters, members of the Guadalajara Superior Council (Beca GDL), instructors, staff and members of the Jaltepec residence, who were honored to take part in expressing their appreciation.
The brunch began with a warm welcome from Jaltepec’s Director, Laura Hernández, followed by a touching video tribute highlighting Linda’s invaluable contributions over the years. A beautifully prepared brunch, served and presented by Jaltepec’s students, reflected the quality of training and hospitality that Linda has helped make possible.
Several of Linda’s dearest friends then shared brief yet moving words, speaking to the personal and institutional impact she has had on their lives and on Jaltepec itself. The morning concluded with a few words from Linda herself and a toast in her honor.
This was not a goodbye — it was a celebration of a lasting legacy, and of everything that continues to grow thanks to Linda’s vision, generosity and enduring presence in the heart of Jaltepec.
