For the first 20 editions, the Chapala Red Cross golf tournament consistently raised around 200,000 pesos annually, helping the organization acquire essential medical equipment and improve its facilities. One of the most notable contributions was the purchase of a new ambulance in 2017, funded by the 220,000 pesos raised that year.
In 2024, the event was reimagined with expanded sponsorship opportunities and new fundraising activities, leading to a remarkable transformation. Both the 2024 and 2025 tournaments raised over 500,000 pesos each in direct contributions. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor who matched every peso raised, the total amount for each year reached an impressive one million pesos. These funds are specifically earmarked for the construction of the new Cruz Roja Chapala medical facility.
Tournament highlights
The 2025 tournament saw 83 golfers enjoy a full day on the course, including an 18-hole round, on-course lunch, and a traditional feast featuring lechón (suckling pig) with a vegetarian option available. Dinner tickets, priced at just 500 pesos, were also sold to the public.

Heartfelt gratitude

The Cruz Roja Chapala Delegation and tournament organizing committee extend their sincere thanks to all sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants whose contributions made this achievement possible. Special recognition goes to Peggy and Rodney Brooks, whose tireless leadership over the past four years has been crucial in growing the tournament into the premier charitable golf event at Lakeside.
Proceeds from the 23rd Annual Cruz Roja Charity Golf Tournament will directly support the construction of the new Red Cross facility, ensuring improved emergency medical services for the entire Lake Chapala community for generations to come.
