Weekly Worship - December 13, 2025

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Rev. Matt Alspaugh will speak on “Practicing Hope” at the next meeting of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Sunday, December 14.

December is a time of darkness, even here in Mexico. The winter solstice reminds us to wait, for the dark times will turn around. The Christian Advent season invites us to wait, to hope, to prepare. But what if hope feels naive, or impossible, given the state of the world? This Sunday, we explore the difference between wishing for hope and the spiritual discipline of practicing hope in dark times. Can we cultivate hope when it’s needed the most?

Michael Swords will be the service associate and Cesar Castro is the musician.

Sunday service is at noon. All services are at St. Andrews Anglican Church, San Lucas 19, Riberas de Pilar.

The service on Sunday, December 21,  will start 15 minutes earlier than normal, at 11:45 a.m.

Common Ground Fellowship at Little Chapel

God’s promise of Emmanuel unfolds in three great stages. In Jesus, God is no longer hidden—if we see Jesus, we see God. Join us this Sunday as Dr. Wayne Cook explores these three stages and reveals that God is with us. Common Ground Fellowship at Little Chapel is a bilingual, dynamic, friendly, and all-inclusive place to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that the church exists primarily for the benefit of those outside it as we seek to make the love of Christ known to others by serving our community in word and actions.

Donations of food and clothing for our numerous missions along the shores of Lake Chapala are always gladly accepted via our big purple box in front of the Chapel. Saturday’s car wash fundraiser for Mam Cleo’s boys’ home is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sundays, we offer several times to gather: Beginning at 9 a.m., there is worship and hymn music followed by a 10 a.m. gathering for ACTS: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Formal worship service begins at 11 a.m. and includes a children’s church. We hope to see you there and then join us for coffee and cookies afterwards.

Carretera Chapala-Ajijic 10 in Chula Vista.

Christ Church Lakeside

At Christ Church Lakeside, Anglican Church of Mexico, we respond to God’s grace through Jesus Christ by seeking His will daily—nurturing one another through prayer, service, and sharing our gifts. All are welcome in our church family.

Sunday, December 14, marks the third Sunday of Advent. Rev. Danny Borkowski will be the celebrant and give the message, “Are You the One …?” based on Matthew 11: 2 - 11

We are located on the Carretera in West Ajijic, next to the Smokehouse Restaurant.

No matter where you are in your faith walk, you are welcome to join us—we are all seekers together.

The Brunch Bunch meets after the service, 12:30 p.m. at Cocinart, 16 de Sept. 4D in Ajijic.

Lakeside Presbyterian

The message on Sunday, December 14 will be “Do You Give Love a Bad Name?”

During Advent, we’re embracing the journey of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come—just like in Dickens’ beloved tale, A Christmas Carol. This week, we meet the Scrooge of “Christmas Present,” the man who resisted love until a ghost (or God?) broke through. Pastor David Erickson will guide us to reflect on our own hearts: Are we generous in love… or do we sometimes shut people out? Join us as we invite the Holy Spirit to awaken compassion within us and help us live God’s love right now.

English language service is at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs. For those with limited mobility, there’s also a small elevator at the front. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

If you are unable to attend in person, join us live on Facebook at lpcchapala or on YouTube at @lpcchapala.

Lake Chapala Baptist

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). He left Heaven’s glory for earth’s dust, traded a throne for a manger, and stepped into our darkness to bring us light. God entered our world clothed in humanity; breathing our air, feeling our pain, walking our roads. We remember the manger with wonder when the eternal Word, wrapped in flesh, stepped into time, and became small and fragile for our sake. But He is no longer the baby of Bethlehem. The One once cradled now sits enthroned in glory. Let us not stop at the cradle, let us worship the King.
