Lake Chapala Baptist

We’re continuing to work our way through a book of prophecy. In Daniel 8, a vision unfolds with startling clarity: a ram of Media-Persia is struck down by a swift goat of Greece, whose broken power gives rise to divided kingdoms and, at last, a defiant ruler who desecrates the holy place and crushes the faithful. Yet the vision is not despairing. Time itself is measured in God’s hands, and the oppressor’s triumph is brief, ending not by human strength but by divine decree. The chapter whispers courage to suffering hearts, reminding them that history still bends toward justice and that what is trampled for a season will one day be restored.

English worship service is Sunday at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Dan Klassen. English-language Bible study is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m. Choir practice is on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to noon. Santa Margarita 147, Riberas de Pilar. Office: 33-5023-5822; cell. +1-508-838-9156; This email address is being protected from spambots. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Rev. Sarah A. Shirley, Rector of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, will be the guest speaker at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Sunday, February 22,  at its noon service. Her topic, “Unity: Variations on a Theme,” will address such questions as, What is unity? Is it achievable on the earthly plane? Is it something that human beings actually desire? Her message is informed by the controversial nature of ‘unity’ as a spiritual principle, which made worldwide news in January 2025 when The Rt. Rev. Mariann Edgar-Budde preached on it at the (U.S.) National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The response? A mix of kudos and death threats. Shirley’s talk explores the concept and value of unity in light of these responses, as well as other local aspects of how unity is at work among both the Anglican and UU congregations here at Lakeside, along with the mutual values each group cherishes.

The Service Associate will be Hyacinthe Miller.

All services of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship are held at noon at St. Andrews Anglican Church, San Lucas 19, Riberas de Pilar. For more information: lcuuf.org.

Common Ground Fellowship at Little Chapel

Salvation means to deliver someone from a perilous situation. Oftentimes, being a savior to someone is how one becomes a hero. A swimmer saving someone drowning. The person who runs into a burning building to rescue people trapped inside by flames. When God heard the cries of Hebrews enslaved in Egypt, He sent them Moses. And today, when God hears the cries of the soulsick and those enslaved by sin, He comes to the rescue. Join us this Sunday, February 22, as Dr. Wayne Cook delivers his message on What We Believe About Salvation.

Common Ground Fellowship at Little Chapel is a bilingual, friendly and all-inclusive place to worship. We believe that the church exists primarily for the benefit of those outside it as we seek to make the love of Christ known to others by serving our community. Our worship service begins at 11 a.m. and includes children’s church. Hymn singing is at 9 a.m. and a time of prayer at 10 a.m. Belva Velázquez begins a new Wednesday Bible Study at 5 p.m. this week. And for the next six weeks on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Dr. Ted Rogers is teaching a class on prayer through the Chapala Theological Seminary. We hope to see you at one of these times. All are welcome.

Donations of clothing and non-perishable food items that go directly to families in need are gladly accepted in the purple donation box in front of the Chapel. Common Ground also hosts Saturday’s car wash fundraiser for Mama Cleo’s boys’ home, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Carretera Chapala-Ajijic 10 in Chula Vista.

Service begins at 10:30 each Sunday. This week, February 22, Rev. Jim Powers will give the message entitled “Temptations,” based on the gospel of Luke 4:1-11.

Please join us for worship and Holy Communion and stay for coffee and dessert after the service.

Lakeside Presbyterian

Sunday, February 15, Pastor Carolyn Hansen will give the sermon, “Why We Read Scripture Together,” from Nehemiah 8:1–12.

At Lakeside Presbyterian Church, we read several Bible passages together each Sunday morning. Why does Scripture have such a central place in worship? In this Sunday’s sermon, we look at how God speaks through the reading of the Word, what the lectionary is, and how hearing Scripture together shapes our faith, our understanding, and our obedience.

English language service is at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs. For those with limited mobility, there’s also a small elevator at the front. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.
