Christmas concert to showcase progress made by CREM Orchestra & Choir

The Centro Regional de Estudios Musicales (CREM) Children’s Orchestra and Choir are hard at work rehearsing for the annual Christmas concert at the Auditorio de la Ribera on Saturday, December 20, 7 p.m. The remarkable progress of both groups means that this year they will be performing all but one of the seasonally themed works at this popular annual event.

LCS Spanish Classes resume January 5

The Lake Chapala Society Spanish program is gearing up for a new term of Warren Hardy Spanish Language Classes. This session of classes will begin on Monday, January 5 and run through Saturday, February 21. The Warren Hardy four-level language course is designed to give the adult student a solid foundation in Spanish.

School for special children hosts Christmas concert, open house

Supporters and visitors are invited to see their donations at work during the annual Children’s Christmas Concert and Open House at the Jocotepec School for Special Children. The Friday, December 19 event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is hosted by the school’s staff and board members.

Chapala Red Cross complies with new labor laws

The Cruz Roja Chapala advisory board is continuing its ongoing effort to return the local organization to financial stability.
Internal regulations have now been filed with the Jalisco labor board to bring the group to full compliance with the labor law modifications of 2012. Previously, no internal regulations were in place to protect either the employees or the institution.

Jewish community to celebrate Chanukah

Chanukah will be celebrated for the community at-large at the Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation on Sunday, December 21, 2 p.m..  There will be traditional food, games and fun.
