Benefit for peace

As part of the celebration of the 16th Annual Gandhi-King Season for Peace and Non-Violence, a buffet breakfast was held every Wednesday in March at Salvador’s to benefit the families of the victims of the May 2012 massacre when young people from Chapala to Jocotepec were kidnapped and murdered. Raffle tickets were sold for a one-week stay at the Gas Lamp Plaza Suites time share in San Diego, California.

Gross receipts were 22,180 pesos. The net amount to the victims’ fund is 15,110 pesos. Congratulations to Carol Flood-Delano, whose winning ticket was drawn at the closing ceremony of the Season for Peace and Non-violence held at the Ajijic Cultural Center on Thursday, April 4.

The organizers of this campaign wish to express their gratitude to Salvador’s and its staff for making this event both possible and successful. A special thanks to the Lakeside community.

When McGonagall found herself bedridden and suicidal following a severe concussion, she had a fascinating idea for how to get better. Pet food drive

The monthly pet food drive will be on Thursday, April 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Animal Shelter pet food store.

This monthly event occurs on the third Thursday of every month, thanks to the support of Geoffrey Kaye of the Animal Shelter, and assistance of Animal Buddies representatives who will be present to help you.

With your purchase you are helping the Shelter cats as well as Anita’s Animals, or your choice of any animal rescue group.

You can make a purchase of dog or cat food at any time if you are unable to come to the food drive on Thursday. When making your purchase, inform the store clerk whether the pet food is for Anita’s Animals, or another choice of animal rescue group and the shelter will hold your donation purchase for pickup.

After you have made this purchase, you will need to contact the designated rescue group you have selected. Your donations really make a difference and they are appreciated.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

After any “mountaintop experience” a letdown is inevitable. “That was great! Now what?” We seem incapable of maintaining exhilaration and celebration; always there’s the need to get back to “normal.” It’s the reality of everyday life, and it was the reality of the earliest believers, even after seeing the resurrected Jesus on Easter Day.  It’s that “now what?” question that will be addressed in this week’s worship at St. Andrew’s Church. The sermon suggests that we “Look on the Other Side.”

To find out where that suggestion leads, join St. Andrew’s for worship at 10 a.m. as they continue to plumb the depths of Easter living. St. Anderw’s worship always culminates in fellowship, in a time of welcome and refreshment in the garden.

Christ Church Anglican

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship will meet at the Little Chapel by the Lake on Sunday, April 14,9:30 a.m. The Mass will celebrate Communion Rite II. The Reverend Bob Wells will preach. Little Chapel by the Lake is located at Carretera Chapala-Ajijic 10 in Chula Vista.
