Lakeside closes up shop
In a drive down the highway from West Ajijic to the center of Chapala and down some of Ajijic’s main streets on Wednesday, March 25, between 5 and 6 p.m. it seemed almost every store except for grocers, pharmacies and a couple of eateries, were closed.
If you plan to go out to eat or pick up some necessities, call your local restaurant or any other business first to make sure they are open. You can find telephone numbers in The Chapala Directory or online at ImaginMx.com.
American Legion
American Legion Post 7 Chapala will remain open to serve its members and the community. The Legion is instituting enhanced precautions to ensure the health and safety of all those who enter.
Open Circle
Open Circle has suspended its weekly program at Lake Chapala Society. In lieu of a personal presentation, we will highlight a video of a presentation for you to enjoy. These may be new ones recorded by the presenter from their home. Dr. Michael McManmon’s video: “Life on the Spectrum: The Perspective of a Man with Asperger’s Syndrome,” will be available for view Sunday, March 29, 10:30 a.m. at opencircleajijic.org.
Growing up in suburban New Jersey in a Catholic family with mental illness, suicide, learning differences, autism, and alcoholism made things very confusing. How would any young person developing in a similar environment ever know what was normal behavior? Dr. McManmon will explain Asperger’s through personal stories and concepts unique to understanding people with this syndrome.
Dr. McManmon is a licensed psychologist and founder of the College Internship Program (CIP). He is on the Professional Advisory Board for Asperger’s Syndrome Training and Employment Project and is the author of four books on the subject. He continues his search for answers, working with young adults with emotional, social and learning problems.
Pancake Breakfast
The Pancake breakfast to benefit lakeside first responders to be held March 29 at Tobolandia Water Park has been cancelled.
April Fool’s event
The 5th annual April Fools event scheduled at Sunrise Restaurant has been cancelled.
Rescheduling of the event will be publicized and money back will be offered for tickets already sold. A refund station set up in the Tepehua Treasures store located at Calle Hildago 100-A on the Carretera in Riberas Del Pilar (a few doors west of Zona Gym), where you can bring in your ticket for a full refund between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The Ajijic Writers’ Group has voted to suspend their meetings for the month of April.

The Ajijic Society of the Arts has cancelled its April 6 meeting at La Bodega.
Insight Meditation
All activities at The Heart of Awareness Insight Meditation Center have been suspended to reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus.
