Richard Clarke presents “Change Your Mind to Change Your Brain” at the Open Circle, Sunday, November 29, 10:30 a.m., at the Lake Chapala Society.
Brain research shows you can grow and change your brain, using its natural plasticity to improve your life. You can slow down aging, rejuvenate your immune system, and be happier, more energetic and fulfilled. Clarke will discuss recent research findings, including how areas of the brain grow and change with meditation, including improving the immune system and slowing the aging of the brain, body, and skin. Clarke will also recommend simple ways to start today to slow the effects of aging.
Feliz Navi-Dog
Bring your pooch(es) to the festive open-air restaurant, La Bodega de Ajijic, for a fabulous photo with Santa and your pet, and help the street dogs through Bone Voyage Dog Rescue with your minimum 350-peso donation. The event is Wednesday and Thursday, December 3 and 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Feria Holiday Sale
Maestros del Arte is planning a small event at the Lake Chapala Society Friday to Sunday, December 4-6, in an effort to continue assisting artisans through Covid-19. The pandemic has created extreme hardships for most artisans, say organizers of this annual lakeside event that, sadly, was placed on hold this year.
Come see these wonderful offerings from 23 Mexican artisans from Chihuahua, Guerrero, Michoacan, Jalisco, Hidalgo, Puebla, Chiapas, Mexico State and Oaxaca — everything from decorated gourds to ceramic angel images of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. There will also be Hanukkah ornaments for sale.
The Feria has been selling on its website, as well as Facebook, but this is a great way to check out in person holiday ornaments, and another way for the craftsmen and women to make money. All of the proceeds go to the artisans.
The event, to be held at the Neill James/Open Circle patio, will adhere strictly to social distancing and wearing masks. The Feria Holiday Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Please bring your own bag.

Georgia Senate race
Georgia voters who don’t receive their ballots for the special runoff election by November 30 can come for exclusive in-person voting assistance at the Lake Chapala Society Tuesday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter by the Lakeside entrance and follow signs to the Neill James Art Mural Patio. Christmas Toy Run
As with everything else this year, the annual Toy Run in the Chapala area has been directly affected by Covid-19 restrictions. Gloria Allen of the American Legion Post 7 Ladies Auxiliary and Cyndi Bosch of the Los Gueros Motorcycle Club have been working together on an alternative plan for toy distribution.
Toys and candy will be delivered to the Chapala police station on Saturday, December 12, 10 a.m. for distribution to the children of the police officers and staff – approximately 150 children. The children of firefighters and staff will receive toys and candy as well.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary will deliver toys and candy on Thursday, December 24 to the 24 children residing at the Love in Action orphanage.
Donations are still needed for the police department and fire department children (2 to 10 years of age) and can be delivered to American Legion Post 7, Morelos 114 in Chapala or at Mama’s Bar, Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan through December 11.
