Open Circle

CREM Music School presents “Changing Lives Through Music” at the Open Circle gathering at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) on Sunday, June 13, 10:30 a.m.

Current CREM students in junior and senior high school will present a concert of four parts: symphonic themes from a quartet of cellos; arrangements from Coldplay and Lady Gaga by a string quartet; a duo of singers backed by a piano; and Latin American tunes sung a cappella with accompaniment by a violinist. This is the school’s first public concert in 18 months. Margrita Van der Hoek will present information about the school after the concert.

The mission of CREM, founded in 1990 by Ajijic composer Victor Manuel Medeles, is that music education be accessible to anyone. Its activities are directed at Lakeside children and teenagers from all socio-economic levels and backgrounds. Some first generation students are now part of the Jalisco Philharmonic  Orchestra or are professional musicians elsewhere. When Victor Manuel Medeles passed away in 2009, his son, Emmanuel became the school’s director, continuing his father’s legacy.
